EYFS This term we are learning all about R.M.S. Titanic, from its amazing construction to its maiden voyage and finally how it sank when it collided with an iceberg. We will be linking our learning to previous topics such as Megastructures and Polar Exploration and also exploring local links to this tragic event. We hope to visit the memorial at Farlam to Joseph Bell, the Chief Engineer onboard the Titanic for example, who along with his team kept the engines running as long as possible to aid the evacuation.
Class 1 will not have Woodland School this term - this is so the older children in the school can make use of this fantastic resource, but rest assured we will be making the most of outside ‘learning through play’ opportunities in the EYFS garden. Reception will be doing cricket in PE on Wednesday afternoons and Multiskills on a Friday afternoon.
We will be starting this term with a lovely story all about looking after a dragon to inspire our Reception writers and to lead onto some great opportunities to develop both Nursery and Reception children's learning and development across all areas of the EYFS.
Our Christian value for this term is Compassion. We will be using stories from the Bible, as well as some thought-provoking picture books about refugees, to help us understand this important value. The children will be encouraged to show compassion in their everyday lives both at school and at home.
