Class 1 This term we are learning all about what it was like to be a child in World War Two. So far the children have helped create a Land Army farm in our small world area and have spent time imagining what it might have been like to experience an air raid in our 'Anderson Shelter'. Reception children have also taken part in a mock evacuation, along with the rest of the school, by train to Langwathby. We all dressed up for the occasion and made gas mask boxes to take with us. We have also had a visit from a special story teller called 'Elsie' who told us all about what life was like on the home front during the war.
Our Christian value for this term, which links to our Topic, is Peace. We will be using stories from the Bible, as well as lots of practical examples to bring this value to life within Class 1. Our Reception children are busy learning their sounds and developing their fine motor skills, as they embark on their journey towards becoming emergent writers and readers. They are also working hard to develop their number knowledge. Along with our Nursery children, they are enjoying the chance to learn and develop through play within our enhanced continuous provision. All the children are also enjoying exploring their natural environment during our weekly Woodland School sessions.
