Year R This half term we are finishing off our Rainforest Topic, and have just performed the story of the Great Kapok Tree, which the children really enjoyed. After half term we will be learning all about the local history of the Border Reivers.
Reception will continue to take part in Woodland School activities on Tuesday mornings until half term and then will swap to spending this time looking after our EYFS garden. Last year we grew a range of vegetables, which the children harvested and then enjoyed tasting.
This term we will be concentrating on gathering final pieces of evidence across all seven areas of learning and development, in preparation for writing each child's Early Years Profile. This document provides a summary of each child's level of development at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (end of Reception). We will also be concentrating on developing the children's independent reading and writing skills in preparation for their transition to Yr 1 in September.
Our value for this term is Trust and we will be using stories and lots of practical examples to bring this value to life within Class 1 this term.
