Latest News Summer 2018 - this term's topic is all about the Romans and how building Hadrian's Wall has influenced Cumbria both in the past and now.
To help us understand first hand what life was like during this period of history we have met Victor Aurelius (a Roman reenactor); will be meeting Tim Padley an archaeological researcher and visiting Newcastle University Archaelogy department to meet Dr Rob Collins. We hope this visit inspires our Year 5 and 6 children to career choices for the future.
In June, children will have first hand opportunity to find out more about the way of life on the Wall by visiting both the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda. To finish off our topic we are marching to Birdoswald dressed as Romans, accompanied by Victor Aurelius, to have a banquet. We hope that these carefully crafted learning experiences will help to embed the children's learning about the Romans for the rest of their lives.
