Castles and Dragons Our topic for Spring 2014 is 'Castles and Dragons' and, as usual, we tried to start things off with a bang - this time with a junk modelling day. On the first day of the new term, the children brought in lots of boxes and materials left over from Christmas. Working in groups, they designed, built and painted their models - they are now decorating the classroom.
In the coming weeks, we will be learning about the history of castles, finding out about myths and legends (such as St George) and looking at Chinese dragons as part of Chinese New Year celebrations. There will also be an emphasis on art, particularly for the Year 6 children, whose work in this project will contribute to the 'Explore' Arts Award which we are operating in conjunction with William Howard School.
