Rainforests: This term we shall be doing a creative curriculum project based on the Rainforest (including links to geography, science, and art and design technology).
From now until Easter we will be learning all about the different types of rainforests: their locations; what they are like; who lives there (including animals, plants and indigenous peoples) and much more. We aim to study the four main layers of a rainforest and find out about the creatures and the plants that grow in the different layers and how they are adapted to live there. We will also be looking at how deforestation is having such a negative effect on the rainforests and what we can do to help change this. Philip Howard has also given us the chance to replant a small area of the woodland behind the school so that we can look at woodland regeneration first hand.
Within the topic we hope to have Zoo Lab, who will bring rainforest animals into our classrooms, a trip to Amazonia and a day of art with Abby Kelfelder
