Meet Our School Council

At Lanercost, our school council representatives play a pivotal role in everyday school life. Following a democratic vote, our School Council is made up of our Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, followed by a representative from each year group. This creates a central group that speaks on behalf of the whole school and makes decisions about school life. We value the opinions of our pupils and the School Council gives pupils a forum to share these opinions with the Headteacher and other members of staff.

The school council will take on the responsibility of offering a variety of different fundraising opportunities and respectfully listen to the views of all the children on different subjects at different parts of the year.

Upcoming Events

We would love to revamp our school garden at the side of our school with a trim trail to help us all build on our core strengths, improve our physical fitness and help our mental health.
School Council and the House Captains have come up with an excellent way to kick start our fundraising journey. We would like to encourage all our children and siblings to complete a sponsored '10km your way' (EYFS&KS1) or ‘20km your way'(KS2). The idea is to walk, run, cycle, swim (...anyway you want to) for either 10 or 20 km. This does not need to be completed in one go; you could complete 1km a day for 20 days or complete half by swimming and half by cycling...the options are completely up to you!
The challenge is to complete this by Sunday 2nd June.
