At Lanercost C of E Primary School, we believe that Personal, Social, Health and Economics Education (PSHE) plays a vital role in primary education. PSHE is integral to developing children’s values and allows them to become positive citizens in a forever-changing community.
Our PSHE curriculum aims to equip pupils with a sound understanding of risk and the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions. It should develop the children’s understanding of different situations, feelings and coping strategies. It also supports children to recognise and celebrate their individuality and identity. We believe that the purpose of PSHE education is to build, where appropriate, on the statutory guidance outlined in the Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education. This statutory guidance can be found here: Primary RSE Statutory Guidance.
Our RSE policy can be found here: RSE Policy
Our children learning how to safeguard themselves is incredibly important to us at Lanercost and, as part of our PSHE curriculum, the children complete the KIDSAFE programme bi-annually. Click on the document below to learn more about KIDSAFE in our school.
